A Visit from Mr. Lewis
What I Do:
A typical school visit includes two (2) 45-minute sessions in the a.m., two (2) more in the p.m., which include farm paraphernalia, a high level of student interaction, and book readings.
What You Do:
Get the kids pumped up for the visit about two weeks in advance. You can do this by ordering copies here, so they’re familiar with the book. It makes a huge difference.
You can also download these helpful teacher resource guides, prepared by experienced certified educators.

(You may need the FREE Adobe Reader. Get it here.)
You can also pre-order copies for sale the day of the visit. For more information on how to do that, you can visit our store or call 914-443-5496. Books for fundraising, classroom sets and quantities are available at a discount.
I love to do book signings – and the kids love that, too – but we always need to be sure to have enough copies of “I Grew Up on a Farm” for the students and teachers who want to buy books.
It works best if we find out in advance of the visit how many students and teachers want books so we know how many to order – it’s also a good idea to order a few extra.
There are always a few people who decide at the last minute that they want a copy or two, as well.
What We Need:
I’ll need an LCD projector and a screen, or a SmartBoard as the book is on a PowerPoint presentation.
I can accomodate an audience up to 125-150 students per session; I have done 200 students successfully at assemblies.
What I Charge:
Program fees range start at $750, depending on number of programs per day and distance traveled. Fees are negotiable.
I also do programs and speaking events for libraries, conferences, teacher organizations, PTO Family Fun Nights, and other events, with pro-rated fees and schedules. Please call for details.
Whom Do You ?
